My Journey to Quitting Sugar: A Life-Changing Choice

Hi there! I recently embarked on a journey to quit sugar, and I can honestly say it’s been one of the most transformative decisions of my life. I’ve always had a sweet tooth, but over time, sugar started to take control in ways I couldn’t ignore. It wasn’t just about the cravings—it was affecting my health, my energy, and even my mindset.

Why I Decided to Quit Sugar

For me, sugar was more than a treat; it was a constant presence in my life. It felt like there was never “enough,” and I was always chasing that next bite. At first, I wasn’t sure if I could go a few days without it, let alone longer. But I knew I needed to make a change. The impact sugar was having on me—both physically and emotionally—was undeniable, and I was ready to take back control.

What I’ve Learned So Far

Let me tell you, those first few days were not easy. Sugar has this hold on you, and breaking free felt like a rollercoaster. But something amazing started to happen as I stuck with it. I began noticing changes—not just on the scale but in how I felt overall. My mind felt clearer, my energy returned, and I started to feel more like myself again.

This journey has taught me so much about myself, my habits, and how food can affect every part of life. It’s about more than just giving up sugar; it’s about gaining freedom and control.

The Road Ahead

I’m not going to pretend I have it all figured out or that the journey is over. There are still temptations and tough moments, but I’ve learned that resilience and a clear sense of purpose can help me push through. Each day I stay sugar-free feels like a win, and it’s given me confidence to face challenges in other areas of my life.

Encouragement for Your Own Journey

If you’re thinking about quitting sugar or making a change in your eating habits, I hope my experience can encourage you. It’s not easy, but it’s worth it. Start small, celebrate the little wins, and know that it’s okay to face setbacks along the way.

Remember, this isn’t just about food—it’s about feeling good in your body and your mind. For anyone looking for more support, there are great resources out there, like MD by the Sea, where you can find professional guidance tailored to your journey.

Whatever your goals may be, I’m rooting for you. Let’s make those tough decisions together and create the life we want!

  1. I was off sugar until this medication. I was Carnivore and keto. I think it was because I thought I was not going to gain weight. I’m picking protein drinks and found quest peanut butter cups with 11 gram of protein. Less guilt now

    1. You’re always full of good advice and recommendations! I was driving up north last night and picked up some beef jerky bites on the way. I was also on the PROTEIN kick! It’s a better substitute than the old Amy with all the carby/sugar road trip snacks!! Thanks for sharing!!

    1. Oh yes yes yes. I can eat as many Girl Scout cookies as I want. No one is tying my hands behind my back. True, it’s work. It’s our decisions everyday! Hugs to you friend and THANKS for sharing!!

    Here is a thought:
There is something that is called Captcha. You may have seen it on websites where the user has to enter the letters\numbers displayed or find pictures. If they do it successfully they are good to go. This should deter spammers and may be easier than having a user login 1st.

    Just a thought….
    Good Luck

    1. Glad it’s working smoothly and thanks for the idea! I know exactly what you’re talking abt. I’ll ask the web developer if it performs with our DreamHost/Elementor web builder. I like the suggestion and thanks so much!!

  3. This is the information I needed! I’m trying to quit sugar right now and I am STRUGGLING. But I’m not going to give up! Thanks for the advice!

    1. Hi Tammi!!! Just tonight in our Zoom call I was sharing that my eating/cravings/weight has been so smooth the last 3 months. I had so many ups and downs and fought quite a bit on maintenance. My cravings and my weight would creep and I’d need to make changes and take control of the situation…twice titrating up a dose for 4-6 weeks. But the last 3 months, I’m holding steady with my 5.0 dose and feeling really peaceful and in control. My body is in a rhythm and staying right around 150. Boy do I get the ‘struggling’ term!! And I’m hoping yours is not for long!!

    1. I love that you’re so educated on the macros! I would say most do not have their carb range as common knowledge. We used My Fitness Pal together how many years ago???? (: That’s the only way I’d ever keep track! Thanks for sharing!!
